What we're looking for
Join our dynamic and fast-evolving Energy Sourcing team in a role that’s essential to our growth. We’re building a well-rounded team to enhance our analytics and digital tools, and that’s where you come in. While the team is heavily involved in operational work, your role will provide vital analytical support to streamline our processes and optimize decision-making in energy sourcing.
Our fuel portfolio will contain a mix of conventional fuels, biofuels, LNG, and methanol and will likely expand into other new fuel categories in the future. In this role, you’ll focus on analyzing market trends, assessing procurement performance, and identifying short- and medium-term strategic sourcing opportunities.
You will be a key part of process improvements through the use of digital tools, and prepare reports and presentations to provide market insights to internal stakeholders. Planning and execution of fuel procurement will also be part of your responsibility.
This role will be a part of helping Wallenius Wilhelmsen reach their strategic goal for sustainability, read more about our ambitious reduction targets in our sustainability pledge and the annual report.
With us, you will:
- Analyse fuel and energy markets to identify trends, performance, strategic sourcing opportunities, and mitigate risk.
- Analyse procurement patterns to enhance optimisation.
- Identify and implement digital tools to improve efficiency, data analytics, and decision-making.
- Provide proactive support to internal stakeholders by delivering relevant market insights, ensuring information is clear and accessible through well-structured reports and presentations.
- Plan and execute fuel procurement in alignment with our fuel sourcing strategy.
- Serve as a backup for operational needs when required.
Here is what we’re looking for in the ideal candidate:
- Proven experience in marine energy sourcing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of marine fuel markets, bunker procedures, as well as planning and operational strategies.
- Strong analytical skills paired with digital proficiency (ex Python, PowerBI or similar).
- Fluency in both written and spoken English.
- Familiarity with LNG, methanol, and ammonia markets is a plus, though not required.
As for personal qualities, we think you are:
- Proactive and self-driven, with a solution-focused approach.
- Highly motivated to work in the maritime fuel and energy markets, with a strong commitment to cost optimization.
- A clear communicator with solid presentation skills, able to collaborate well across cultures and departments.
At Wallenius Wilhelmsen, we're not just looking for a perfect requirement match - we're searching for passionate individuals with unique perspectives. Research shows that women and members of minority groups are less likely to apply if they feel like they don't match every requirement - give us the opportunity to decide if that's the case! Your experience and enthusiasm matter more than checking every box, and we'd love to have you on board!
